Altered Tin

I altered this gift card tin as a thank you to someone special, I really like how it turned out. I might use the same design for a mini scrapbook, wouldn't it make a cute cover for a tag book or accordian style book?

Snowed In

I know I haven't been able to keep up on my blogging, it's been sporadic this month. Oh, I've been creating, I just can't show off anything I've made because I've been in crunch mode working on artwork that will be published. So, no sneak peaks or anything, darn!

I also have been getting a little cabin fever this month. We've had record snowfalls, and while it's as beautiful as can be, I'm ready for a little less of the white stuff. Going to the store is a major ordeal for me, I don't like driving on slippery roads, and I live on a hillside, so there's only one way off... straight down. For those who are not tired of beautiful snow scenes, here are a few shots I took walking around my neighborhood.







In the meantime, I can enjoy a sunny vacation on the internet, thanks to this site.

Scrappin' with the Goddess at Creative University

Do you love Scrapbook retreats? You should so totally come to my Creative University! I'm putting together a super-fun weekend in North Idaho, three days of creative fun with classes, cropping, make-and-takes and more. You can even schedule a massage!

Dates are Friday to Sunday, Feb. 29, March 1 and 2.
The event is located near Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, an easy drive from Spokane, WA. (See map below)

Toddler's Book of Colors

I created this book a few years ago for my nephew. It was a good way for him to get to know the names and faces of his cousins, and learn his color as well. The book is a 6x6 scrapbook with top-load page protectors. There are flip-up pages for a fun interactive element.

I made a set of three pages for each color. The first color page is a right side page, the next two are facing pages. Here's a first page:


Now for the left hand side of the double page spread:


This page is on the right of the page above. The flap is created with a brag book page, secured with mini brads.


Here's the above page, with the flap lifted. I chose pictures of each of the cousins wearing the color of the page, which really made the book extra colorful!

Red or Purple?

Have you seen my hair? This isn't the best picture, so I'm brave to put it here, but honestly, my family tells me my hair is now a lovely shade of purple. Okay, it's kinda burgundy, maybe leaning a little too much on the pink side, but I just wanted to add a little spice to my boring brown shade that I usually wear. I've gradually gone shorter over the past year, it had gotten so long I was mostly wearing the "mom ponytail". Problem is that wearing a bob in brown reminds me of the line from Steel Magnolias where Sally Field's hair is described as a "big brown football helmet". We can't have that. So... is it better to have a big purple football helmet?
