Plenty of Perfectly Patterned Papers

Know what I love about stamps? The possibilities are only limited by your imagination! Background stamps are probably my favorite, because they can be so versatile. The color and technique you choose make all the difference in the world. This folksy tree card has a bit of a contemporary edge to it, all because of the ultra cool Spot On Backgrounds stamp set.

Want to make a tree of your own? Create your own template by cutting a big triangle for the tree and then slicing it into three sections. Add a short rectangle for the trunk and you're done!

Memories

My uncle Clifford passed away recently. We are attending a memorial service this weekend and I've created this piece of artwork for his daughter and family. Clifford was a farmer, a devoted family man, and as straightforward as they come. The world would be a better place with more honest, simple men like Clifford.

He was also hilarious, often without knowing it. Clifford had very poor hearing, which caused him to speak very loudly. Add that to his habit of saying whatever came off the top of his head... well let's just say it was always a treat to visit Uncle Clifford. My favorite story: quite a few years ago my family was enjoying supper at Clifford's home, prepared by his wife, my aunt Idabelle. She was the most genteel woman I've ever known, so proper and very beautiful. Someone at the table commented on how thin Idabelle had become, as she had been sick. Clifford joins the conversation by bellowing "you should see her NAKID!" Needless to say, there was a bit of an awkward pause.....

I'll miss my uncle Clifford.

'Nuther one...

The photo could be a bit better, we did have a brief glimpse of sun yesterday so I was able to get a little natural light to reflect off my glittered card, so I'm going with this one.

To get the multiple colors on this star (CTMH Shining Star), I inked up the stamp in yellow (CTMH Creme Brulee) and then used a sponge to add red (CTMH Tulip) around the middle section, and a small finger dauber to add the blue (CTMH Juniper) in the center. After adding all these colors to the stamp, I stamped the image onto Colonial White cardstock, cut out the star and aged the edges with brown (CTMH Chocolate).

And of course, you gotta add glitter. Everything's better with glitter.

Christmas Card time!

I'm getting ready for my annual Christmas card workshop blitz. I try to keep my Christmas cards on the simple side, in consideration of my workshop attendees who wouldn't enjoy a 5 hour workshop... go figure. So, here's one of the cards. The red berries just add so much! They're made by mixing liquid glass, cranberry re-inker and Martha Stewart red glitter. Will post another tomorrow, if I can get just a tiny bit of sun to photograph my lovely glitter. Dreary November days are not good for photo shoots.

Good Fairy?

I took this shot in our front yard, and the setting is perfect for my little flower fairy. I just love how this came out. Is she a "good" fairy? Not particulary, especially when it comes to posing for photos. I got one shot facing the camera, and lots and lots of pics of her back turned to me. What is it with kids of scrapbookers? Don't they know they'll thank us when they get older?
