Pimped my Gun

Friday, April 10, 2009

I've held off on altering my ATG gun, until I found these rhinestone swirls by Prima. I just had to use these... what can I say?

I used auto primer spray paint before I sprayed on the pink paint. The primer really makes the topcoat stick, every crafter should have a can of it.

The rub-ons are by Close to My Heart. I was so excited to take pictures that I hadn't noticed that I'd done such a crappy job on my rub-ons, but a little smoothing with my finger made those puppies stick right on. I love these rub-ons, they go on like buttah I tell you.

I'm debating about drilling a hole in the handle so I can add a big ring to hang up my gun. Not that I actually do hang up my tape gun, but I want the ring so I can have a place to add some darling ribbon frou-frou. Please. Like you don't think I could add just a bit more glam.

Even if you never hang it up adding a ring for ribbons would cap this off perfectly. Fabulous, indeed! Wish I could meet you in person...I'd love to see you in action. You are so FUN!

LOVE your pimped ATG gun! I've been putting off altering my (boring) red one, but you've inspired me!

Oh my goodness. You are so funny. I love this. Did you paint your gun or find a pink one somewhere? I wish mine was pink!

I dont know if anyone watched Malcom in the middle. But this gun reminded me of the episode where Malcom and his mom were sick. The dad locked them in there room and they bedazzled everything. It made me chuckle pretty hard. Thanks for the laugh.

Fabulous! I so want to do mine, and would have but my gun is not a pretty pink like yours, I have the clear and red one - yuck!

Well now that you've inspired me AGAIN, I have to decide...cricut green or pink...green or pink...green or pink...pink or green?

Do did you use auto paint as well or did the primer help stick with regular enamel paint?

I have been wanting to do this for years. I just never remember to buy the spray paint. You know how it can be hard to remember what you ate for breakfast, let alone buy paint! It looks fab!

Whoa! You definitely pimped it--I love it! I am sooo going to have to start "pimping" some of my not-so-exciting tools . . . .hmmm . . . where to start?

Thanks for sharing! I love it!

Love it! Watch out though. Don't let Bren see it. It matches her room perfectly!

What color was your gun originally? It looks awesome! What a great use for our rubons! Okay, auto primer spray paint - what kind of paint was the pink? Thanks for sharing!

Thanks everyone for the comments!

To answer the spray paint questions: the pink spray paint is Krylon Outdoor Spaces. I found it a Wal-Mart. So far it's been holding up pretty well, I think that the primer was the key.

I've tried the spray paint that's made just for plastic, and I didn't put down the primer coat. I sprayed a pair of orange-handled scissors and the paint didn't last long, in fact it got pretty ugly after a few uses. Perhaps it will work better with a primer, but it didn't stand up too well without, so I used something else this time around.
