Student Artwork Contest

Saturday, June 27, 2009

Help me choose a winner, and you could win too! My monthly Scrap & Stamp club members are competing in a "Use my Scraps" contest. They each received a baggie of scraps from my stash with assorted papers. Every packet was different and the only requirement was to use at least one item from the scrap baggie for their entry into the contest.

Now I need you to vote for your favorite! Watch the slideshow below by clicking on the arrow. You can also go directly to the online album, if you'd rather view them that way. To vote, leave a comment below (click on the pink "comment", next to the envelope icon). Tell me the number or name of the artwork you like best. Make sure you comment here, on the blog, and not on the slideshow album.

To say thank you for commenting, everyone who votes will be entered into a drawing and one person will win a Catch-all Bag made by me! Anonymous comments need to leave their contact info (email), or sign in to comment, so I can contact you.

Winners of the Artwork contest and the Catch-all Bag will be announced Monday, July 6. Comments will remain unpublished until July 6 so that the winner will remain a surprise until the announcement.

Award Time

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

My goodness, I'm so blessed to have such great friends in the blogging world! Thank you to Samie for this Kreative Blogger award, I'm honored.

Here are the rules of the award:
Thank the person who nominated you for the award. Copy the logo and place it on your blog. Link to the person who gave you the award. List 7 things about yourself that people may find interesting. Nominate 7 new Kreativ Bloggers. Post links to the new nominated blogs. Leave a comment on their blogs, letting them know they have been nominated.

Below are my nominations to pass along the award. Just for fun, I'm sharing my love of incredibly crafty sewing blogs.
1. Kathryn & Melissa. Check out the darling playhouse!
2. Traci. PJ pants from designer sheets? Brilliant!
3. Anna. I am so making her "purse thingy."
4. Jona. Seriously. These sleeve ruffles are to die for. If you've got little girls, you need this tutorial.
As usual, I can't follow the rules, so I didn't list 7 people. I'm bad like that.

Now, here's my list of 7 things you may (or may not) find interesting.
1. I don't always follow rules. See above.
2. I do not drive fast. My husband is not impressed with this.
3. I made T-shirts adorned with safety pins and actually wore them in my younger years.
4. I love cooked veggies. Better than raw. I could eat a ton. Weird, huh?
5. I have a love/hate relationship with healthy living.
6. I am a gemini, which is the sign of the twins. My maiden name is Thomas, which means Twin. My brother and I were born on the same day, (like twins), eight years apart. Oooooh, freaky.
7. I have nothing left to share. See, I can't follow the rules.

A Lovely Award

Before I go on, let me tell you the new video on interactive pages is coming, but it's just a little later than I thought. I do that... think I'm almost done then realize I should change this, then that, and pretty soon I'm re-shooting entire scenes. A few more days.... I hope!

Now, on to the fun stuff! I've had a few blog award nominations and I'm tickled pink about it! Thanks so much to these fellow bloggers:

Thank you ladies for the honor!

Now it's my turn to pass along the award. Here are the rules:

Bag Lady

Thursday, June 18, 2009

I have a thing about containers. Anything that holds stuff. Probably some kind of attempt to override my perpetually unorganized untidy-ness. I'm figuring if I have enough handy-dandy super-cute containers, everything I own will magically hop in and make my life perfect.

Bags hold stuff, yes indeedy. I love having lots of them. These are perfect for toting stuff to the beach, or groceries home from the store. And it doesn't hurt that they're super-cute, right?

I sewed these one up in a jiffy with the tutorial here. They are reversible, so I can choose "mild" or "wild", depending on my mood for the day. I also really like the longer handles, enough to sling up on your shoulder but not hang way down below your hip. Couldn't be easier, and even with the splurge on these beautiful batik fabrics I ended up spending less than $10 for two bags.

Sneak Peek, Video Tutorial Coming Soon!

I'll be releasing a new video this week! Just putting the final touches on the tutorial for interactive pages. Here's a sneak peek of the layout featured in the video.

Get your face on

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Monday evening, dinner is done, homework finished. I know, who wants a face painting?
The problem with being a kid of a face-painting mom, you gotta put up with this. It takes lots of practice to get these faces painted in less than three minutes. Good thing I've got a lot of models.

Okay, all done with your faces. Now go outside and play. This is the hilarious part. Looks like a circus family lives here.

And um, don't tell my son I posted a picture of him riding his sister's bike. He's outgrown the old one, and this one will do for now.
