PICT1108
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, because everyone can be creative, and there’s no pressure if your craft skills aren’t perfect. Hot glue and paper mache are a standard fixture in my house at this time of year, it’s a creative chaos.

I heard on the news that 50% of American adults plan to dress up for halloween. So in honor of halloween, and because I feel like giving something away, tell me about your Halloween costume, and enter to win these spooky Close to My Heart products!

halloween giveaway

Prize includes
Backdrop – Charmed $17.95
Midnight Felt Shapes, $5.95
Mischief Complements Rub-ons, $4.95
To enter, leave a comment and tell me…

1. what costume you plan to wear this year.
2. OR If you’re not going to wear a costume, tell me what your favorite costume has been in the past,
3. OR what you’d like to wear if you could choose any costume.

I’ll only count entries who answer at least one of the questions, if you don’t wear costumes, well…. you’re out of luck.

If you do not have a profile with email contact info, you must include your email address, so I can contact the winner. Winner will be chosen October 31 by random drawing of all qualifying entries.

LOVE the whole Mischief line, so thanks for the giveaway! My favorite Halloween costume as a kid was Princess Leia. Someday if I ever get to stop spending so much time on my kids' Halloween costumes, I'll get to be her again.

My costume will be the one I didn't get to wear last year - late in the day - I twisted my knee - ended up going to bed and icing knee and doing nothing!

I will be wearing a witch costume - black skirt, top, cape and hat. My wig is black with a bright red (color crayon red!)streak. Hope to have matching nails and lipstick. Plan to add some stick on blings to edges of eye make up - we'll see how long that lasts!

The costume I wore last year was my favorite. I went as a bumble bee. The party was outdoors and the padding and the hoodie with the feelers on the costume kept me toasty warm.

My fav. costume is the Queen of Spades - so easy to make with pillow case, black tights, crown and some creative/artistic drawing to make the face of the card. thanks for giving us all the chance to win some sweet stuff!

The costume that I am most proud of is when I dressed up as a field of sunflowers. My head/face was a giant sunflower that I crafted out of yellow bristol board. I dreassed in green from head to toe (including my shoes!) Then I made tiny sunflowers into "penny-buttons" to cover my shirt. You place a penny on the inside of your shirt and a flower on the outside. The flower has a slit in it like a button hole and you push the penny through the button hole with a small portion of your shirt and Voila! a shirt covered in sunflowers. Click here to see a pic.

I am going to a party tonight - I am going to be a cross between a witch (long black hair/hat) and a vampire (black pants/white shirt/cape) and my face is going to be all white/grey with black around my eyes to look like I'm dead.

I am not dressing up this year I was not that organized. But I thought I would answer two questions cause they were fun!

2. OR If you’re not going to wear a costume, tell me what your favorite costume has been in the past, - My coworkers and I used to dress up and have contests with the other team. There were 4 of us per team so we dressed up as lotto balls and we were the "little lotto"

3. OR what you’d like to wear if you could choose any costume.
If I could choose any costume I think I could like to be a zombie. Zombies are really in right now and how fun would it be to look all scarry and groan scary stuff all night. Haha

grrr...it wouldn't let me sign in so I am leaving my email here just in case I am the lucky duck that wins such an awesome prize! PaisleyScraps@gmail.com - thanks Amy :)

A few years ago I went to a Halloween party (the weekend before Halloween) as a Prosletyzer. I wore a ratty bathrobe, ratted my hair, and a cardboard sign around my neck that said, "The End is Near." Great costume - until I had to stop at a gas station on 2nd (ie-crazy district) for a fill up. This year it will be my dog doing the dressing up - my miniature dachshund has a chicken costume that he hates me for.

My husband and I married in college and when we graduated he was hired by The Pillsbury Company. That Halloween my husband had the official Pillsbury doughboy outfit with the built in fan in the head piece. So my husband went as the doughboy and I got a large cardboard box and painted it white, and painted the details from the Pillsbury flour sack on it, put on white tights, a white tam and white gloves. We were a big hit but didn't win--pretty upsetting since we were newlyweds right out of college and could have used the big CASH prize!

I have a party at the marina where our boat is moored and I will attend as Elvira. I may not be as thin and sexy as Elvira, but I do have the -er- Accoutrements, shall we say. I will wear the same costume at work on Monday, but I will have to cover up a bit and have a little more decorum. Happy Halloween Everyone!

My favorite Halloween costume was a clown costume that my mom made for me when I was in about the 4th grade. It was purple and gold and I loved it. I still have a picture of me wearing it in the school Halloween parade.

loved all the comments so far. i love planning, prepping, gathering, making costumes. the process starts in aug or sept & we always work up til the last min, my family & friends all go as a group costume or theme. when it was just me & my son pregnant with the other we were lil red riding hood & big bad wolf, weve been the candy land board game, alice in wonderland, the justice league & I was a modest wonder woman, had all the accessories(cuffs, rope, the symbol, the stars on my skirts, the headband, then weve been how to train your dragon, icons of music, mario, luigi & king bowser. This yr has been my most fun to create we are going as a Tim Burton art exhibit.

I can't remember the why---but I distinctly remember...wanting to --and dressing up as Benjamin Franklin. Yep. I did. I was probably 7 or 8. I had a powdered wig, a long coat, a kite with a string. A few people got who I was was...! Maybe that was the beginning of my "lightbulb" moments?!

Tammy said...

How fun! Love your Little Mermaid!!! This year we are in the process of moving so...since I work for a professional sports team...I am dressing like a Sacramento Kings fan! Not so creative but super easy!!!

My favorite costume in cold weather is to bundle up heavily and carry a sign: Nudist on strike!

I am still trying to figure out this year.. but I think my favorite costume of the past would be when I was 7 months pregnant with my son. I was Pippy Longstocking after a roll in the hay! It was pretty funny!

I was actually just talking about this the other day. The one costume that really sticks out in my mind from when I was a kid was being the Bride of Frankenstein. We went out to good will (or something similar) and found a "vintage" white gown, then my mom teased all of my hear up over my head. I may try this again next year but with my own wedding dress that's been boxed up since my wedding.

Gosh I love Halloween ... One year I was an Oil Leak brown shirt and pants, brown face, a baseball hat with a HUGGGE car sewn to it. The next yr was gum under a chair.. same principle but all pink and a chair on my head.
***The next Halloween that I remember I made a scarecrow outfit for my self and made my 2 boys little crows with the beak and eyes attached to the top of a hoodie .. ( my oldest is autistic and hated anything on his face)
*** One year we all dressed up as characters from Shrek ..I was the ogre princess Fiona one of my sons was a dragon . my niece was The PRINCESS Fiona, my husband was Lord Farquad ( in his wheelchair so he was short) It was soo much fun ..

I'm not dressing up this year, but I think my favorite costume was a Cleopatra outfit I wore when I was about 19 or 20. I have a lot of big naturally curly hair and was so excited that I was able to get it all up and into a strait, jet black wig. This was pre hair straightening days for me. I did the "Liz Taylor" eye makeup (as best I could) and made a large neck piece out of sequins. Good memories!

Well I have been on my husband's case for years to dress up as Barney and Betty from the Flintstones. Then we had our daughter I figured since hubby is more of a Barney type, we can just say were babysitting Pebbles. Then our own little Bam-Bam came along...Well last year 2 days before he was game and I was not going to buy the costumes! I planned on making them, ugh! SO, this year was too crazy with a move and life. BUT next year I am already on the hunt for the fabrics I need!!! I favorite costume has to be the one(s) that my mom made us...there were many. BUT the 2 person dragon was the best: I was the head and my younger brother was the mid-section and controlled the tail.
So, far I only got the chance to make my 4 year old daughter's ghost costume last year. Grandma took on the previous years: Mermaid, Bumble Bee and Tinker Bell. I just love the handmade costumes!
Happy Halloween!

In an hour I will be dressed as a squirrel for the Halloween party held at the Nature Center. I made the costume years (and years) ago when my niece was a teenager. I usually wear the costume when I clog to the song Mississippi Squirrel. The residents at the nursing homes love it.

My favorite costume so far was Rosie the Riveter. It was super easy and didn't require too much work. I just wore jeans and a denim shirt with the sleeves rolled up. I curled my hair and covered it with a red bandana. I made a "We can do it!" sign with some foam board and acrylic paint. It was great because it was so unique. BTW, I have been dying for this stamp set!

Well, I am not dressing up this year, but I have a few favorites! A yellow M&M, Peter Pan, and a cowboy (all different years, of course!) If I could choose something to dress up as, I think it would be fun to dress up as Cruella DeVil from 101 Dalmations!!

I won't be wearing a costume this year. But when I was younger I dressed up like my mom and I got to wear her dress and some of her jewelry. It was great. Thanks for the chance, Johanne.

I wasn't planning on wearing a costume this year, but my fave costume (as an adult) hands down has to be the year I dressed up as... not sure how to describe it except as like Jimi Hendrix... I pulled some "hair" from my fro wig and used it as chest hair. My own brother didn't recognize me, even though I was talking to him. I said, "You don't know who I am, do you?" "Um, no..." So funny!

This year my son who is in Grade 6 is going as a Cereal Killer, yes, you read it right. It's not a typo. I attached mini cereal boxes (that were torn open stuffed with tissue with fake blood coming out of them) to a blood stained lab coat. He's also got a fake bloody knife... It's all about the laugh, I tell ya! lol

Can't wait to see all the cute costumes this year!!!

Crystal (ctzaldrich@yahoo.com) said...

My favorite costume was a belly dancer, with all the sheer bright colored fabrics and the gold charms clinking away.

I haven't quite decided if I want to dress up this year or not. Montana is pretty mellow so not a whole lot of college students dress up, if at all during the day. If I do dress up I'll wear my favorite pirate costume which doubles as my Ren. Faire costume.
