The design team for Lindy’s Stamp Gang is holding their first ever Lovin’ Lindy Hop! Each of the designers have picked out their own personal color selection of favorites and we’re showing them off with our artwork and tutorials. Best of all, each designer is holding a giveaway of their favorite Lindy’s colors on their blog! The more blogs you visit, the more chances to enter and win!
You know when you’re working on something and you’re having so much fun you have to force yourself to stop? Case in point: this box. Put down the glue gun and back away. I really debated on adding more flowers, or more glitter, or more rhinestones. But I’d say I went over the top just enough.
Heck, who am I kidding? I went over the top and fell off the other side. And you can’t even SEE the glimmery goodness that the Lindy’s Starburst Sprays are giving to this candy-coated confection.
So let’s talk about the project a bit, shall we? The box started out as a plain brown cardboard heart box, from the craft store. See the picture below. It’s so sad.
I painted the box with white acrylic paint. Just slap it on there, it’s mostly going to be covered. Spray a good coat of Hottie Patottie Pink over the paint, let it sit a minute then dab off with a diaper wipe. The acrylic paint resists the spray, but it stains enough to leave a very pale version of the original color.
Using the February Stamp of the Month from Close to My Heart, Friendship, I embossed a strip of white cardstock with clear embossing powder and then sprayed the white cardstock heavily with more of the Hottie Patottie Pink. (This name makes me giggle). The clear embossing powder resists the spray, so the damask pattern is now white with a hot pink background. This strip is then matted with Close to My Heart Chocolate cardstock and attached to the sides of the box. I embellished with Pearl Opaques.
For the top of the box, I stamped the largest damask pattern and embossed in white on Chocolate cardstock. Can I just say how cool that pattern is? I want to wallpaper my bedroom in it. I also stamped and embossed the Sweet! letters using Bohemian Alpha set. The letters are mounted on white cardstock squares sprayed with… say it with me now… Hottie Patottie Pink. Seriously, those cardstock squares were white!
Ahhh, the flower. That’s going to be a tutorial soon. It’s made from coffee filters, with a rolled cardstock rose in the middle. Both of the flowers begin white, then are sprayed with Cotton Candy Pink Starburst Spray. It looks like it should be sitting on top of a cupcake. Yum!
Now, let’s take a look at the before and after:
Life is like a box of chocolates. Especially when it’s covered in glitter and flowers.
So, want to win a set of Lindy’s Starburst Sprays? I’ve chosen three colors that I absolutely adore right now. I am a tone-on-tone kind of gal, I’m never happy with just ONE shade of anything. So I picked two colors of pink, Hottie Patottie and Cotton Candy. One is in-yer-face, you gotta problem with me bein’ a girl? pink. The other is shy and demure, with a sweet little shimmer to spice it up. Thelma and Louise of the pink family. Of course, we can’t forget chocolate. All girls are better with chocolate. This one is Dark chocolate truffle, with a fine gold glimmer that suits in perfectly. Dark and rich, just the way chocolate should be.
I need a name for my collection! I thought of Chocolate covered cherries or chocolate covered strawberries, but my kids pointed out that both fruits are red. Well, fooey, I can’t come up with anything better. So I need your help! Do you like my name or can you come up with a better one? Leave a comment to be entered in the drawing, and if you've got a good idea, let me hear it! You must log in or leave your email to enter the drawing, anonymous comments can’t win.
UPDATE : Prize winner has been drawn, thanks to all who entered. Additional comments are now disabled.
Now, after you’ve left a comment, hop on over to the other Lindy’s Stamp Gang designer’s blog and check out their artwork! Tell ‘em Tresa sent ya!
I had so much fun reading all the comments on the blog hop giveaway, so many stories of gifts received or wished for. Some were very touching, and some were very funny! My best valentine’s gift: bringing home my 2nd daughter after she was born in the hospital on Feb. 12th.
Now for the winner of the Friendship stamp set! Congratulations to Kathleen, who left comment #20.
I just love your banner!!! The new products are so much FUN!! For my great Valentine's was a Diamond heart shaped necklace that was such a surprise it really showed me the love my husband has for me and me him. It was during a time when this would have been the very last thing I ever would have expected. I can't wait to wear it again on Valentine's Day this year.
Kathleen, I’ll be emailing you soon for your mailing address. Enjoy your new stamp set!

Ready for some sweet eye candy? Join me and other Close to My Heart consultants for a sneak peek at projects using brand new products from the Spring/Summer Close to My Heart idea book/catalog.
The idea book/catalog will be available online for viewing on Feb. 1st. If you’re like me and prefer looking at a real book (holding it lovingly in your hands, turning down the corners to mark your favorite pages, drawing hearts around the stamp sets you want to own), contact me to purchase a copy.
Here I go making banners again. I just luv ‘em. This one uses papers from Sweetheart level 2 paper pack. Believe it or not, there are just TWO patterned papers used in this project. Close to My Heart background and texture papers are two-sided, so I’ve used both sides of the paper to really get more bang for my buck!
The Sweetheart paper is very girly with all the pink and red colors. I decided to ground the color scheme with the addition of the new Kraft cardstock, and I shabby-fied the piece with strips of raw edged burlap. Still pretty sweet, but it’s okay to hang it up in your family room too.
I’m working on a kit for this banner and hope to have it for sale here on my blog very soon, just in time for your Valentine crafting!
Made it this far in the post? You deserve a prize!
If you’ve been reading my blog or watching my videos for any length of time, you’ll know my fondness for damask pattern stamps. Want to win this stamp? Leave a comment and tell me your best Valentine gift ever, or what you’d like to get for Valentines’ day. You must be a follower of my blog to win, anonymous comments can’t be counted. If you’re not a follower, it’s easy, click here! I’m getting close to 1,000 followers. I should have a big party when I reach the quadruple digits!

Fussy Cutting is stamping lingo for intricate cut out pieces. The dictionary defines Fussy this way:
adj. fuss·i·er, fuss·i·est
1. Easily upset; given to bouts of ill temper: a fussy baby.
2. Paying great or excessive attention to personal tastes and appearance; fastidious: He was always fussy about clothes.
3. Calling for or requiring great attention to sometimes trivial details: a fussy actuarial problem.
4. Full of superfluous details: "It can indeed be fussy, filling with ornament what should be empty space" (H.D.F. Kitto).
Is it just me, or am I seeing a bit of self-description here? Sigh.

Whew, I have not posted for a week, did you miss me? Let’s catch up on what’s going on!
As usual at this time of year, preparing for Creative University has been taking up most of my time for the past few weeks. Less than a month away and still so much to do! The logowear is always a big deal, and I just revealed this year’s new items to my CU students.
My husband and I traveled to Idaho to celebrate a very important birthday. My mother-in-law just turned 80. All four of her sons and their wives had a fabulous time and a swanky dinner at an elegant restaurant overlooking the river. So much fun to get away for a grown-up only weekend!
My ustream show last week on painted canvas did not record in full, dang it. So if you’re looking for it, I had to remove the partially-recorded program, it just didn’t make sense to leave it up, the “how-to” would have been a “what-now?” After months of trouble-free broadcasting, this is my month to screw up. I will re-visit that particular technique at another time, later this spring.
After much thought, and hard decision making, tonight’s episode of Fabulously Artsy LIVE on ustream will be my last regularly scheduled show for a while. I love broadcasting the show, and will try to throw in an impromptu show here and there, but my time is just so limited right now. So much to do, and a weekly show is just not do-able at this time. After February is over, I’ll be able to get back into the swing of things, but until then, I will miss everyone! For my loyal ustream viewers, don’t give up on me, I’ll be back as soon as I can! I’ll still be posting regularly on my little blog, so you can get your Fabulously Artsy fix here!

Thanks to all who joined in the Inspirations blog hop/linky party. I am blown away with the gorgeous artwork shared by such talented artists! In case you missed it, you can still browse through all the entries here.
It was hard to pick a few favorites, but these entries caught my eye……
What a perfect choice of photos for this paper! The Brae-er used just paper and stickers from the Wings level one kit. I can’t decide if it’s a simply gorgeous layout, or a gorgeous simple layout!
Sweet! Loving the Bohemian Alphabet on this birthday card by Cre8n’ Memories. Check out the safety pin on the tag!
This layout from The Art of the Matter is such a delight. I love the combination of white space and small textural touches of rolled roses and pleated ribbon. Lovely!

I finally managed to get into the website later, and recorded a small video. If nothing else, you'll be entertained by my little helper.

Oh. My. Heck. I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun this motion sensor thing is. It’s different than the other motion games, you don’t hold anything, you ARE the controller. It’s absolutely amazing how it sees your movements and, depending on the game, puts you into the screen. You definitely have to get your whole body involved. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves…
Look at her hair. It’s horizontal. Gift bags on the floor keep her from moving too close to the screen. Creative solution at work.
Plugging leaks at the bottom of the sea.
Here’s what my son, in the picture above, sees on the screen. His “avatar” is transparent, so he can see the holes that the fish make in the glass, then he plugs them with his hands, feet and head.
And my favorite picture….
Definitely NOT a couch potato.

The Inspirations brochure is a sneak peek of products in the new full size Spring/Summer 2011 catalog, which will be available in February. You can get a jump start on your scrappin’ and stampin’ in 2011 with the Inspirations brochure, and get special reduced prices on every stamp set inside when you purchase the Wings Workshop kit.
I created this card on a recent live show on ustream. You can watch the recorded class here. The card uses the Wings level 2 paper pack, January Stamp of the Month Find your Style (you can get it for a reduced price or even free when you order from Inspirations), and Dreams Come True stamp set.
In the class I demonstrated how to use the new Spray pen from Close to My Heart. The pens come empty and you can choose your reinker color and add pearl paint for an opaque shimmer if you like. How versatile is that? The Wings Workshop kit includes one spray pen, or you can purchase the pens in a three pack beginning Feb. 1.
Want more inspiration? Check out these other Close to My Heart consultants and their artwork using products featured in the Inspirations brochure. If you are a consultant with a blog and artwork to share, join me by adding your own photo! You can add the hop to your own blog if you would like by copying and pasting the code into your own blog post, or just add your artwork if you just want to join the linky party.
New to Linky Parties? Please remember good Linky Party etiquette:
1. Give Credit: Always link back to the hostess. Even if your post isn't created just for the party, you can add a "Linking up to ..." by going back and editing your post. Leaving a comment on your hostesses' blog is nice too.
2. Let the Guests find you: Add your link to your actual post, not just your blog address.
3. Mingle with the Guests: Visit at least a few of the other players and say something nice. Parties are all about supporting each other, so leave some love!

We’re ringing in the new year in the mountains of Idaho, playing in the snow, riding the ATV and toasting marshmallows over the fire. Hope your party plans are just as fabulous!
If you’re a Close to My Heart consultant with artwork to share from the new Inspirations products, please join me in the hop! It’s simple and easy, instructions will be posted on Monday.
