It’s been a long winter, I’m ready for spring. How ‘bout you?
In my part of the country we’re still experiencing grey, drizzly skies and chilly weather. There’s a lone snow pile still left in my yard that just refuses to disappear.
But that doesn’t mean I can’t experience a little color and cheer in my studio! The cards above are created from the Sophia Workshop kit, which includes the Sophia paper pack and an exclusive stamp set only available in the kit.
The Workshop kits all include a full color brochure with cutting guide and instructions to create both layouts and cards. I decided to make my own designs, just to be different. Attendees at my workshop can choose to create from my designs or the ones in their workshop kit. I’m all about versatility!

Sometimes it’s okay to be a cheater. My newest FASTTT video.
If you have ever struggled to make the perfect bow, and just can’t get those tails to lie flat or get the bow to sit just right, you’ll never have that problem when you cheat.
My youngest just turned eight and we had a little family celebration on her birthday, with a kid party on the weekend. She had several presents and cards from family members to open at her family party. When she was finished, she brought out a card and said “Oh look, I have one from Richard”.
This was a complete surprise, since her older brother isn’t really into the whole little-sister thing. You know how that goes. Check out his expression above. Plus the writing on the envelope didn’t seem to match my son’s handwriting.
Turns out Jessica decided to make a card for herself, since her brother wasn’t going to be having any of that. She drew a picture of a boat (his favorite subject) and wrote:
Dear Jessica, I love you just the way your are. Eight was my favorite year. From Richard.
When she’s married, I suppose she’ll just send herself flowers and chocolates on Valentines day, save her husband the trouble and actually get what she wants.
I’ve been a busy girl! In one day, I uploaded three videos to youtube. (they took longer to make than one day, but still….)
The fact that I hadn’t been making an many youtube videos was weighing heavily on my mind, so I’m adding a special feature to my channel, FASTTT videos.
What’s the difference? Let me tell you…

Want to know a secret? I shot the video for the FASTTT video, and started working on it, and ended up creating a regular ol’ Fabulously Artsy video. I had all the stuff… the talking head intro, the voice-overs, the captions, the music. Hmmmm… this wasn’t really what I had in mind. So I FORCED myself to make another one, that stuck with the FASTTT plan. That’s why the two are similar. In the future, there will be lots of FASTTT videos that don’t match up with a FAB video. But I think it’s a good idea to explain the difference, and it gave me a good reason to make three videos and release them in one day. My previous three videos? Over a six month timespan. That’s a long time to wait for your Fabulously Artsy fix!
So now… let’s get Fabulously Artsy!

If you are a youtube fan, you may have noticed I have been reeeeeaaaalllly slow about making new videos lately. I’m hoping that I can fix that with this new feature, FASTTT videos.
I love making my full-feature videos, but they are super-duper time consuming to shoot and edit, up to 30+ hours per video. At the most, I can expect one per month, unless I somehow win the lottery and can hire a full-time production staff. But I still have a blast making them and will continue as often as I can.
The FASTTT videos will let me get in, get out and get on with crafting more fabulous goodness for my classes, my blog, my ustream and more. The focus is on learning techniques and short tips for better crafting.
A special thanks to my awesome ustream regulars, who have shown me that I can be “just me” and people will still want to watch the show and learn new things.
