Q: When is a Ribbon not a Ribbon?

Tuesday, August 7, 2012

A. When you use it like paper!

Boys and ribbons. Not always something that goes hand in hand. But I love this new Slate Satin Polka Dot ribbon so much, and it goes so perfectly with the Avonlea paper pack, so I just had to use it!

First, a traditional approach, with a notched edge and machine stitching.

I always like to repeat my elements in a layout, so did you catch the second place I used the same ribbon?

Yep, hiding in this array of patterned paper strips! The satin shimmer adds a unique texture, but by using it flat it blends in with the rest of the layout.

Looking for more ways to incorporate ribbon into a masculine layout? Try knotting the ribbon, or attaching flat pieces with brads or staples.
